The 2013 NMIFA Youth Fall League managed to resume action last weekend and played some games after several cancelations of matches in the past two weeks due to the inclement weather.
In the girls U15 division, Paire Football Club dueled Tan Holdings FC on Court 1 at the Hopwood Junior High School Field and eked out a 1-0 victory. Both teams showed some rust after a long break and went scoreless in the first few minutes of the game before Guinevere Borja put Paire on the board with her goal in the 15th minute.
Goals continued to be elusive for Tan Holdings FC in the second half, allowing Paire FC to save the win.
Over on Court 2, Shirley’s FC was scheduled to meet Matansa FC, but the latter forfeited the match due to lack of players.
In other results, MP United FC downed Tan Holdings FC, 4-1, in the boys U18 game last Saturday at the Oleai Sports Complex Field.
MP United drew goals from different player to keep its perfect record after three games. Jehn Joyner scored first for MP United, while Paire also found the back of the net in the first half, courtesy of Sean Perez’s goal. The Norman del Rosario-coached MP United then broke the deadlock in the second half with Tanapon Unsa earning a goal. MP United went on to dominate the second half with Daniel Lim and Chris Park also lighting up the scoreboard.
In the boys U15 division, MP United was also victorious, beating Tan Holdings, 1-0, in their Oct. 12 duel. Julian Pellegrino made the lone goal in the make-up match at the Oleai pitch, scoring in the sixth minute.
Meanwhile, the boys U15 games last Friday were rescheduled due to rain.
Matches in the M-League were also cancelled, as the Oleai pitch was unplayable last Sunday. The M-League was out of action for more than two weeks and only resumed play last Wednesday with the CNMI Women’s National Team playing Kanoa Resort FC. Results of that match were unavailable at press time.
